Why is the anniversary of the first bitcoin transaction important?
This history is significant because it showed that Bitcoin, as a monetary network, works in the real world and in operational terms. It was after this transaction that Bitcoin became known as a platform for future growth in the field of decentralized monetary networks.
Hall Finney contracted ALS in 2014. Before he contracted the disease, Finney had done much to advance the field of cryptography. He was the second person to run a bitcoin network on his computer after Satoshi Nakamoto. Some have linked him to Satoshi Nakamoto, but his family has denied the allegations.
Hall Finney wrote in a post on the Bitcointalk community in 2009:
I extracted seventy blocks and then I was the destination of the first bitcoin transaction. Satoshi sent me 10 bitcoins as a test.
At the time, 10 bitcoins were worthless, but today they are worth about $ 353,000.
The interesting thing is to know that Technical Hall was one of the first people to predict the price of Bitcoin. In one of his 2009 e-mails to Satoshi Nakamoto, he compared bitcoin to the wealth of the world (about $100 trillion to $300 trillion). According to his forecast, and considering the limit of 21 million bitcoin units, the price of each bitcoin unit will reach $10 million.
He is said to be the first person to tweet about bitcoin. He tweeted in 2009:
It has been 12 years since then and Bitcoin is more powerful than ever as a decentralized monetary network.
